Leslie Bull will be participating in the April 2005 Ironman in Tempe, Arizona competition to raise money for the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation as part of the Janus Charity Challenge. Janus Capital Group has signed on to be the presenting sponsor of Ironman Arizona, the newest Ironman North America event set to take place on Sunday, April 9, 2005.For more information call Leslie at 408.245.9454. Leslie is competing in memory of her father who passed away on March 31, 2003. He had been diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis.

Over 200,000 individuals in the US are afflicted with IPF, and more than 40,000 die annually. There is currently no cure for pulmonary fibrosis. Treatment options are limited and usually ineffectual. The mission of the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation is to increase public awareness of the disease, provide support for patients and families and fund research.

An Ironman competition involves a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike-ride and a 26-mile run. Please support this incredible feat by making a contribution today! Thunder, Lightning, and Hail!

Damn, what terrible weather!

The thunder was shaking the house, Wow!

Then the hail came down, not huge pieces but hail means it is cold up there.

Shit, the lightning and thunder are going at the same time, it is right above us and the poor cats are scared.

A Fun Sunday ...

Well today was fun!

My wife and I took BART to San Francisco and then walked to the Moscone Center for Wonder Con, today was the last day so on the way in someone gave us a free badge to get in so that saved us $15 which was spent on new artists comics, plus all the vendors had sales!

Always some interesting people at a Comic Book event, the next good Con is the APE

After spending a few hours there, we went to Oakland to pick up supplies then back on BART to Walnut Creek where we drove to Concord and the Guitar Center as I needed some new headphones as mine have broke and I couldn't fix them.

BTW, the headphones are the sweetest I have ever used, WOW!

After that we finally made it back, and then went to dinner at Mimi's Cafe, oh so good!

The weather wasn't as bad as Saturday either.

The best part is tomorrow is a holiday and we can just relax at home.

Ahhh !!

Is anyone else out there going broke?

Without actually buying to much? It just seems that the last time I had a raise the gas price (in the Bay Area, California) was $1.60/gallon (1999!) now it is 2.16/gallon!!

That may not look like much, but my wife and I commute 150 miles a day round trip!

Ouch!

I know everyone always says you chose to live out there, but actually your salary makes the choice where you live not the people.

A new house in 1999 was $600,000 and good used homes (20 years old) were $400,000 in the South Bay where we work, but some cities over a brand new house was $250,000 where in the South Bay areas $250,000 got you a 30 year, or older, 1 bathroom house!

So where am I going to move?

HHmmm...big choice!

Our house rocks, the neighborhood is pretty good, it is just the drive that kills us, mostly because work sucks!

But back to the point, we don't take expensive trips, we do not drink, go out to bars, or have extravagant clothes.

We just spend to much for the normal shit, even though we have things trimmed pretty tight. Cable and phone is bare bones to keep the internet connection on, cell-phones (now the main phone!) Internet is re-imbursed by work, etc.

Anyone else?

What a day, just worked from home as I felt like crap yesterday and today.

I have to go in on Friday for a team meeting, it appears there is going to be another re-org.

Man, another re-org means no one wil get a raise for another 18 months.

Want To Have A Family Fight, Just Talk About Religion ...

Well it is at least Monday and it is a new week which has to be better then last week.

Last Thursday another interesting 1 on 1 with my manager, which I recorded.

After that meeting, Friday was a group meeting and that prompted me to send an e-mail asking for a 1 on 1 with my manager's manager and why I want this meeting so I listed some complaints.

I constantly get told that when I dial in to meetings it looks bad, etc. so I drive in the 75 miles on a Friday to a meeting that I could have easily dialed in to. Well a co-worker just didn't want to come in to the meeting room which was less then 20 feet away from his cube, and dialed in, the manager is just fine with that.

I went to his cube and asked him why he just didn't want to come into the room with the rest of us, and he stated that he wanted to get some work done!

THAT IS WHY WE HAVE LAPTOPS WITH WIRELESS NETWORK ADAPTORS!!

To get work done in meeting rooms.

Always seems to be special rules for different people.

Those are clear Ethics violations, at least at my work as they have a group looking out for that now.

Anyone else having these sort of work woes?

Well, Saturday, just relaxed, thankfully and Sunday I went back and exported all of my Step-Mom's email off of the older computer I replaced with a newer one.

Sunday night we (My Wife and I) were going to my parents for dinner and to see my sister for her birthday.

Well I knew we shouldn't have left to go, traffic was terrible, I was still piseed about work ... annoyed with the idiots that run our country.

During dinner the discussion turned toward politics, and religion, etc.

Once I get started, there is no stopping me.

Well I will leave to gory details out but it was ugly, what a terrible display of control on my part.

So the moral of the story is that if you want to have happy family dinners once in a while, just don't talk about anything where you will have an opinion, or just agree and pass the pasta.
