I still think the best blogs do not have paid advertising!! 8^) Once you have a sponsor you tailor your writing to keep getting more sponsors...not to be true to your writing.....but that is my opinion. I still think it is great that Bloggers are being invited to these large, although meaningless, conventions. So if you don't have a blog go to http://www.blogger.comand sign up for one for free, if you have no webspace BlogSpot is available to host your page for free with one banner at the top of the page (not a sponsor, a trade for free web-hosting!!) tracyv

Wired News: Free Speech Behind the Razor Wire
Wired News: Free Speech Behind the Razor Wire
Wired News: Free Speech Behind the Razor Wire:
"BOSTON -- The estimated 5,000 protesters at the Democratic National Convention this week have so far bumped heads over their political differences. In some cases, they have even barred one another from their scheduled (and permitted) events. But activists have been largely united in one civil action: their boycott of the so-called free-speech zone carved out by the U.S. Secret Service and local authorities, the only spot where protesters will be able to shout their messages to the delegates arriving on buses in a nearby parking lot. "Read this article to see how the delagates will be able to hear from their people. The United States is in a sad state when the Secret Service sets up a mock prison complex and they call that the free speech zone!! The SS is just trying to condition the masses to be ready for the concentration camps that spring up in the US after the next staged terror event. tracyv 8^P~~ ~ ~`

Tuesday...Worked from Home to get Allergy Shots ...
Tuesday...Worked from Home to get Allergy Shots ... HEADACHE!! That's what I get after my allergy shots, a big fat headache!! So since I already feel crappy I just get some house cleaning done and then take a shower to rinse off all of the dust and cat fur, from my boys, and I usually feel better (except the headache part!) Some good news http://www.audiofarm.cc/ is back up and providing great audio-software torrents for free!! Some other great free torrent sites: http://www.suprnova.org/ http://www.torrentbits.org/ http://www.filelist.org/ and a good torrent search page: http://www.torrentsearch.us/ If you have no idea what a bit torrent is check it out here! Not much else new today, received my BCA Pool League player membership package today. My wife and I joined for some fun!! We figured that we will give it a try and since it is a reason to go to Las Vegas and play pool in a tournament, and why not have some human interaction and realtime practice! We are pretty good, just beginners though, and I am sure that there will be people that run 4 games of nine ball before missing a shot!! 8-ball is great, but 9-ball is a lot of fun and requires a lot of strategy. I also like to play snooker, too! Plus it is a reason to put our lovely pool table, that we were lucky enough to get from a good friend's family, to more use!! (for practice that is!)

Monday......mnah!
Monday......mnah! It is a slow starting day....I was drained by the sun yesterday, no energy. 11:00 meeting at work, I love it when other people see through the filter as I do... My group is moving our cubes from the building we work in, to another one a few miles away, and we are leaving part of the lab back in the old building (that we are eventually coming back to after it is reconfigured!) so a bunch of us will have to go between buildings to get our work done!! I had to do this for the last project I was on and I got screwed for it!! Because I had to go between buildings so much, people didn't know where I was (even though they never send email!) so I needed more visibility! So today another co-worker brought up the same points I brought up to my manager in my 1 on 1, and I made sure the rest of the people knew what we were talking about!! SO hopefully the rest of the teams reviews will not suffer the way my review suffered for being one of the first people to fufill their new goal of working between groups/teams!! DAMN! The rest of the day will just be software testing and junk.... more lata.. tracyv 8^P~~ ~ ~`

Friday Night....Whew!!
Friday Night....Whew!! Well I thought tonight would never come, this was a long crappy week and I am glad it is over. Basically work sux, I work in a very racial company!! Not only are they not hiring any new people (except for upper level management to suck away money!) in California all of the new workers are being hired in India!! Not only that, there always seems to be "special" rules for me as opposed to everyone else. Our company lets the managers decide about telecommuting and I always get the managers that tell me I do not have enough visibility!! they always represent the other members of the team as working hard if out of sight but I am not working when I am out if sight. I am really getting tired of this crap!! I explained to my manager that when he, as a manager, gets a new boss they already expect that the managers are perfect and treat the that way (trust), but when I get a new manager every year I am always starting over and having to prove myself over and over and over but never getting any promotions or raises! I also have a big problem when I am fufilling a company goal by trying to be a modular tester (which means to be able to work on multiple projects instead of just one!!) and I get a ding on my review because I didn't perform as well as the testers that have over 3 or more years on just that one project!! What do these people want from me!?! Unfortunately I already know....they just want people to quit because it sucks so bad. It seems that they promote the people that will make things as bad as possible so people will just quit instead of having to be fired! (No un-employment benefits that way!!) Have any of you ever heard of a person with the least amount of time in the company in the group and experience in the job make an ultimatum that they wil not work for a specific co-worker if that co-worker was made manager, and then management asked the other co-worker if he would work for this employee if they were promoted and he answered correctly with "I will be professional and work with whoever becomes management." Well to make things easy upper-management decides to promote the employee that gave an ultimatum!! Can you believe that sh*t!! So that transaction kept me from changing groups, because if the other person (the professional employee) would have become manager I would have been able to join that group! Since the "baby" got the management position he went with taking another junior person into the group as a favor to another manager (same race, hint, hint!!) That kind of crap is running rampant in Silicon Valley, as well as any other high-tech company in any other state, that employs people from multiple countries. I mean H-1 visas, etc. as the company I work for threw so much money at brining so many employees from India and China. That means that my company pays for their visas, salary, extra salary for housing, other expenses, etc. all instead of hiring an American from the local area. this practice usually happens when a management position is filled by an H-1 visa employee they automatically create positions that they say they can't fill locally then bring over "friends" and "family members" to fill these positions, which drains the profits!! This is just what happens in the business units that I have been apart of and I hear that others are worse!! By the way there are hundreds of business units so this on a large scale lowers the stock price, etc. That practice has made it so there are no good working positions in Silicon Valley and all of the openings in the good companies are in Bangalore, India!! Check here for ways to save American jobs. I just needed to vent, because couple the work crap with all this political sh*t and I am just pissed!! I need to sleep in.....aahhh!!! tracyv 8^P~~ ~ ~`

Monday Monday!
Monday Monday! Wow, I can't believe I am going to say this but the IT department at my work (A company of over 20,000 employees) actually took care of my laptop as a priority in about 4 hours!! Holy Sh*t!! Yes, I am saying that the IT department actually came through for me!! I really can't believe that it happened so I am going to make sure that I complete the survey they send out after they complete a case, and put in some great comments!! Not much else going on today...I will be working from home tomorrow to get my allergy shots, this has been a windy summer kicking up a lot of pollen and crap. DAMN! Well more later! tracyv 8^P~~ ~ ~`
