Ahh...Memorial Day Weekend starts!!
Ahh...Memorial Day Weekend starts!!
I wonder if people even think about what Memorial Day Weekend is about? To honor those that have served our country, as opposed to getting a good deal at The Gap, or at Macy's!! Actually, I think most people just think of Memorial Day and Veteran's Day as just the holidays at the beginning and the end of summer.
Well hopefully it will be a relaxing weekend of reflection!
What a day, my wife worked from home so I drove in by myself. Went the long freeway route (4 to 242 to 680 to 237 to Zanker) since I left late this morning. Man, the freeway work is cruising right along! The signs say it will be completed by 2006, but we will see. When Bart reaches Antioch and all the way to San Jose's Light Rail we are set!! (I am not holding my breath tho!)
Seemed like everyone on the freeway was stupid this afternoon!!
I had a moron (woman on phone) cut off the person in front of me, and then cut me off, then she kept moving left!! So I passed her on the right, and she starts honking at me!! The middle fingers were flying, and I was calling her everything!! She cuts another car off getting back to the right, as the person on the phone was most likely giving her directions, she tries to catch up honking and flipping me off, so I started laughing and giving her the wave off, what a f*cking bitch!! She was weaving all over, then gets mad when I pass her!! (I usually never honk as it seems to make people hit their brakes!! I flick my highbeams instead since it means MOVE OVER, PLEASE!!)
Well after that was over I finally made it home and could relax! There were deliveries today, so it was like Christmas!! Yea!
I picked up the hard case for the Steinberger since it was back in stock, and I also picked up a Marathon Navigators Watch MIL-W-46374G These are the 2003 Military issue Navigator watches which were made quite accurate with Swiss Movement.
I was also lucky enough to be able to pick up 2 older MIL-W-46374B watches on eBay, one from 1982 and one from 1978. The 1978 is in perfect shape, but the 1982 needs a new crystal which isn't to bad.
I love eBay, it is to damn addictive though!! I ended up getting the second watch because I thought I was changing my bid on the 1982 watch and didn't realize I placed another bid on a different MIL-W-46374B!! The price ended so low, that I was amazed I still won it.
That's how it goes on eBay sometimes!! Yay for collecting!
We are getting all geared up for the camping trip this weekend, we aren't ruffing it or anything, just a family campground place.
We should have some good picture taking opportunities this weekend, as well as some good relaxin' time!!
Something my wife and I need, relaxin' time!!
Well the action is picking up on the Two Towers Extended edition...I rented the trilogy so my wife and I could watch them over a few days and finally finish the trilogy...So more lata...
CSXT SpaceShot 2004 - First Amateur Launch to Space
CSXT SpaceShot 2004 - First Amateur Launch to Space
CSXT SpaceShot 2004 - First Amateur Launch to Space: "Stratofox was privileged to be invited as a part of the Civilian Space eXploration Team's efforts for the SpaceShot 2004. After many attempts in previous years by many groups, this was first successful launch of an amateur rocket to space. And it was also the first privately-funded launch to space in history. We in Stratofox organized the tracking and recovery of the rocket.
The launch site was at the Black Rock Desert in northern Nevada. Stratofox organized and led the search teams which found the rocket about 25 miles from the launch site in rugged mountainous terrain. "
This is Great!!
More and more groups need to get interested in space travel!!
These sites has some great pics of the launch and more information!!
House Minority Leader Blasts Bush; GOP Fires Back -- GOPUSA
House Minority Leader Blasts Bush; GOP Fires Back -- GOPUSA
House Minority Leader Blasts Bush; GOP Fires Back -- GOPUSA: "WASHINGTON (Talon News) -- House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) delivered an attack aimed at President Bush both in a Capitol Hill news conference and in an interview given to her hometown newspaper Thursday afternoon.
Pelosi's remarks stood in sharp contrast with those of the president who made a trip to Capitol Hill yesterday to deliver a message meant to rally Republican lawmakers.
'I believe that the president's leadership and the actions taken in Iraq demonstrate an incompetence in terms of knowledge, judgment, and experience,' Pelosi told reporters gathered to hear her remarks.
'This president should have known ... when you decide to go to war you have to know what the consequences of your action are and how you can accomplish the mission,' Pelosi said.
The House Democratic leader added, 'There was plenty of intelligence to say there would be chaos in Iraq following the fall of Baghdad.'
'The results of his action are what undermine his leadership, not my statements,' she said. 'The emperor has no clothes. When are people going to face the reality?'"
This is GREAT!!! Go Nancy!! Go Nancy!!!
Of course Republicans are defending the president, so we will see who goes down with the ship!!
Finally a politician that is speaking the trith about Bush to the public!!
Nicole stayed home today (Worked from Home) and I went in for my 1 on 1 with my manager Pei. Everything is going good there, just standard work stuff. I need to get my review stuff together in a few weeks so I need to start working on that as well.
I met up with Myk at the spot for lunch today, we had a great time!!
Unfortunately the Sharks are out of the Stanley Cup playoffs, Damn!
Well they will win it next year!!
I stopped in Oakland on the way to work today, the channel 2 (KTVU) news crew in the morning were capping on Oaksterdam!! California voted in Medical Marijuana....deal with it because it isn't going away!
Today my wife had a procedure at the hospital, and she is resting today. Yesterday was a full day of a liquid diet and some nasty stuff to clean her out.
She is feeling much better now that it is done!!
Work isn't to busy so that is good, just automation stuff.
In a few days the biopsy report will be back to the doctor and we will know what is up!!
Tonight my wife and I are going to John B.'s place in Oaklnad to watch the 2nd Playoff game in this round, the Sharks are going all the way!! I can feel it!
Ben and Crystal might be there tonight as well so it will be a fun time, guaranteed!!
I will post pictures from tonight once I get home and upload 'em!
Today my wife Nicole and I worked from home so I could get my allergy shots and she had a doctor's appointment in the afternoon, then we are heading to John's!
I have spent the morning and afternoon testing and getting the Wedding album online, I found the perfect program for making photo albums,RealGallery, it makes it very easy for me!!
I am finally getting all caught up from this weekend!! We had so much to do, and we went to a beautiful wedding in Mill Valley for my Friend Sean and his lovely new wife Eileen!
My wife and I had a busy day running errands to get ready for Sunday, Mother's Day and my friend Sean's wedding!!
Hopefully the driving from Antioch to Sunnyvale then Sunnyvale to Sausilito will be ok.
I hope to post a bunch of pictures from tomorrow.....or atleast take as many good ones at the wedding that I can so I can make a photoCD or a VCD or wedding photos for Sean!!
More fun at the spot!! (The usual lunchtime activity!!)
This is where we meet up with friends at lunch, it is an unused parking lot which works for riding the skateboards!!
Unfortunately there are no real hills....not bad tho!
Here is my wife Nicole kickin' back in the back of the truck:
Here are a few pictures of us in action at the spot:
Here is Nicole crouching into a turn:
Here I am doing a drop-knee turn:
Here is one of me completing a tight turn:
Here is Nicole having some fun:
Not bad for some lunchtime fun, Myk and Mike O. showed up for a bit and it is always good to hang out!!
Today is a little slower paced then yesterday, at work testing is approaching FCS (First Customer Shipment) so we have to test the crap out of it before the end of this week, and it is looking good!!
Tomorrow is Friday and I will be working from home to finish up the last tests, and I need a haircut before Sunday!!
That was the assessment of panelists last week at the University of California at Berkeley's Graduate School of Journalism, who spoke about the political activism of online communities. The Web has been particularly effective in engaging politically apathetic people and motivating them to take politics back to the grass-roots level. "
Again, because of the internet, we are able to share ideas and views instantly with the world!!
I still remember how I had to literally beg my first company back in the early 90's to consider a website and give all of the technical support staff internet access, of course management resisted whole-heartedly!! Managers finally "got onboard" and they took the credit for bringing the internet to the company!!
Topic : Linux On Laptops - Adventures in mobile Linux computing
Over the past few years, Linux has become dominant server operating system for various applications, such as file and web serving. While Linux continues to make further in-roads at the high-end, the desktop space is now beginning to emerge. Technologies and business dynamics seem to be in place for an explosive growth of Linux on the desktop. Another recent trend has been emergence of Laptops as the key desktop platform. Year 2003 was the first year when new Laptops outsold new PCs. So, will Linux leapfrog the PC and find its home directly on the laptop? This presentation will discuss the current state of support for Linux on the laptops. We will discuss the challenges - what works, what can be made to work, and what does not work. We will consider pros and cons of various technologies - hardware, kernels, distributions etc., in making of a productive Linux laptop.
MORE ABOUT THE SPEAKER: Chander Kant is founder and president of LinuxCertified, Inc, a leading provider of Linux laptops, training and services.
